What can it be that has kept Obama in Wright's pews, and at Wright's mercy, for so long and at such a heavy cost to his aspirations? Even if he pulls off a mathematical nomination victory, he has completely lost the first, fine, careless rapture of a post-racial and post-resentment political movement and mired us again in all the old rubbish that predates Dr. King. What a sad thing to behold. And how come? I think we can exclude any covert sympathy on Obama's part for Wright's views or style—he has proved time and again that he is not like that, and even his own little nods to "Minister" Farrakhan can probably be excused as a silly form of Chicago South Side political etiquette. All right, then, how is it that the loathsome Wright married him, baptized his children, and received donations from him? Could it possibly have anything, I wonder, to do with Mrs. Obama?

This obvious question is now becoming inescapable, and there is an inexcusable unwillingness among reporters to be the one to ask it. (One can picture Obama looking pained and sensitive and saying, "Keep my wife out of it," or words to that effect, as Clinton tried to do in 1992 when Jerry Brown and Ralph Nader quite correctly inquired about his spouse's influence.) If there is a reason why the potential nominee has been keeping what he himself now admits to be very bad company—and if the rest of his character seems to make this improbable—then either he is hiding something and/or it is legitimate to ask him about his partner.

I direct your attention to Mrs. Obama's 1985 thesis at Princeton University. Its title (rather limited in scope, given the author and the campus) is "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community." To describe it as hard to read would be a mistake; the thesis cannot be "read" at all, in the strict sense of the verb. This is because it wasn't written in any known language. Anyway, at quite an early stage in the text, Michelle Obama announces that she's much influenced by the definition of black "separationism" offered by Stokely Carmichael and Charles Hamilton in their 1967 screed Black Power: The Politics of Liberation in America. I remember poor Stokely Carmichael quite well. After a hideous series of political and personal fiascos, he fled to Africa, renamed himself Kwame Toure after two of West Africa's most repellently failed dictators, and then came briefly back to the United States before electing to die in exile. I last saw him as the warm-up speaker for Louis Farrakhan in Madison Square Garden in the 1980s, on the evening when Farrakhan made himself famous by warning Jews that "when God puts you in the ovens—it's forever!" I have the distinct feeling that the Obama campaign can't go on much longer without an answer to the question: "Are we getting two for one?" And don't be giving me any grief about asking this. Black Americans used to think that the Clinton twosome was their best friend, too. This time we should find out before it's too late to ask.

TACO PROHIBITION COMES TO LOS ANGELES

Last week, led by Gloria Molina, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors passed a law basically outlawing taco trucks, making it a crime for them to linger at one location for more than an hour, punishable by a $1,000 fine or up to six months in prison.

I fully expect to see thousands of illegals making demands in the streets. And so do you.

Fife's assistant chief constable said the public is at risk because racism is being used to unite people into violent causes. He said this also undermines police work to reassure the Muslim community following the attack on Glasgow Airport last year.

Let me know when these start blowing up buses and airports. Then, perhaps, you can start equating them to Al Qaeda.

CHINA MOUNTS CYBER ATTACK ON INDIA

Chinese internet bullies piss me off...

China’s cyber warfare army is marching on, and India is suffering silently. Over the past one and a half years, officials said, China has mounted almost daily attacks on Indian computer networks, both government and private, showing its intent and capability.

The sustained assault almost coincides with the history of the present political disquiet between the two countries.

According to senior government officials, these attacks are not isolated incidents of something so generic or basic as "hacking" — they are far more sophisticated and complete — and there is a method behind the madness.

The core of the assault is that the Chinese are constantly scanning and mapping India’s official networks. This gives them a very good idea of not only the content but also of how to disable the networks or distract them during a conflict.

The big attacks that were sourced to China over the last few months included an attack on NIC (National Infomatics Centre), which was aimed at the National Security Council, and on the MEA.

Exactly a year ago, Indian computer security experts got a glimpse of what could happen when a targeted attack against Estonia shut that country down — it was done by one million computers from different parts of the world — and many of them were from India! That, officials said, was executed by cyber terrorists from Russia, who are deemed to be more deadlier.

And in a related note, CHINA IS BLOCKING BLOGGER SITES prior to the upcoming Olympics. That move is nothing other than a fear of a Big Feed planet.

MUSLIM COUNCIL OF BRITAIN'S "AWARENESS CAMPAIGN" FAILS: LET US COUNT THE REASONS

Today, the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) expressed that it's "Awareness Campaign" had failed. This in the wake of the ouster of London Mayor Ken Livingstone in favor of Boris Johnson.

UK’s largest Muslim organisation: The Muslim Council of Britain has expressed concern over the success of far right candidate of the British National Party in the Thursday’s election of London Assembly and thought its awareness campaign did not yield desired result.

Well let me help these fellas and point out a few things that did not help their efforts:

MCB calls for all children to be taught in Taliban-style conditions.

MCB calls for limiting certain school activities during Ramadan, including science lessons dealing with sex, parents’ evenings, exams and immunisation programmes.

MCB demands that schools should ensure contact sports, including football and basketball, “are always in single-gender groups”.

MCB demands that school trips be made single-sex “to encourage greater participation from Muslim pupils”.

MCB requests for Arabic language classes for Muslim pupils, and calls that the Koran be recited in music classes.

And while the MCB insists that all British children should learn about Islam, it wants Muslims to have the right to withdraw their children from RE lessons dealing with Christianity and other faiths.

And what this guy says:


Or maybe it's the MCB's condoning of suicide bombings and its terrorists ties. Or the MCB's deliberate denial of muslim extremism in Britain. Or perhaps it was the MCB's characterization of Holocaust Memorial Day as "too exclusive".

And beyond the actions of MCB's actions, are the actions of British Muslims themselves. Muslims in Britain are segregating themselves from society at an increasing rate. British Muslims are demanding the right to censor British media. Young Muslims in the UK are demanding sharia law. Muslims in the UK are justifying terrorism and demanding police protection in the same breath. Muslims in the UK have demanded the execution of the Pope, their own personal open showers, and have stood in the streets of London demanding the nuclear destruction of Denmark.

Of course, the reasons for the MCB's "Awareness Campaign" failing are virtually endless. Frankly, I just got tired of typing. Feel free to submit your own reasons in the comments.

US DRAWING UP PLANS TO ATTACK IRANIAN INSURGENCY CAMPS

Big stuff in the works...

The US military is drawing up plans for a “surgical strike” against an insurgent training camp inside Iran if Republican Guards continue with attempts to destabilise Iraq, western intelligence sources said last week. One source said the Americans were growing increasingly angry at the involvement of the Guards’ special-operations Quds force inside Iraq, training Shi’ite militias and smuggling weapons into the country.

US commanders are increasingly concerned by Iranian interference in Iraq and are determined that recent successes by joint Iraqi and US forces in the southern port city of Basra should not be reversed by the Quds Force.

“If the situation in Basra goes back to what it was like before, America is likely to blame Iran and carry out a surgical strike on a militant training camp across the border in Khuzestan,” said one source, referring to a frontier province.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama's loose cannon of a spiritual adviser, stole the wife of a parishioner - after the man sought Wright's help in saving his troubled marriage, the former husband told friends.

Delmer Reed, 59, confided to pals that he believed the minister moved in on his wife while Wright was counseling the couple at his Chicago church in the early 1980s, The Post has learned.

"That's exactly how he said it," Reed's divorce lawyer, Roosevelt Thomas, told The Post. "It looks like Delmer might have been right," he said, because after Delmer and Ramah Reed were divorced, she got remarried - to Wright. "Either that or this was the biggest coincidence in the world."

Asked about the relationship between Wright and his ex-wife, Reed told The Post, "Oh, the things I could tell you."

Asked if Wright broke up his marriage, Reed laughed, then said, "I told my kids I wouldn't say anything to hurt their stepfather, so I'm not saying anything."

Asked if he's forgiven the pastor, Reed nodded.

"I let it go," he said. "I don't want my kids to hear anything negative about their stepfather."

He added: "I'm not a vindictive person; I'm a forgiving man."

But years ago, Reed did express anger about the situation, said Harold Davis, who said he learned about the matter through mutual friends.

"Jeremiah knew all the weaknesses of the couple, and he started focusing on the wife, her vulnerabilities, and started doing things she wanted Delmer to do - spending time with her, taking her to the movies, that sort of thing," said Davis, who heads the Chicago branch of football great Jim Brown's Amer-I-can youth program.

"Everybody knew Jeremiah took the man's wife," said Davis. "It was common knowledge."

POLICEMAN MURDERED BY BURQA WEARING BANK ROBBERS IN PHILADELPHIA

A policeman was shot to death after a bank robbery yesterday in Philadelphia. Reports say two of the suspects were dressed from head to toe in Muslim garb.

Philadelphia police said a veteran police officer was shot and killed in the Port Richmond section of the city on Saturday.

Steven Liczbinski, 40, a 12-year veteran who had just been promoted to sergeant, was shot by at least two men shortly before 11:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Police originally described a man and a woman in Muslim-type garb and a man wearing a white hospital mask. The masked man had shoulder-length dreadlocks, but Officer Tanya Little said that could be wig. Ramsey said one of those suspects had been killed, but he did not know which one.

"Tell my wife I'll miss her," Schiller Street residents heard dying Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski say as they went to his side.

In the Port Richmond area, Nancy Braun, 43, a homemaker and mother of two, had heard the gunfire that killed the officer.

She said she had heard several shots, then a neighbor's screams. She ran out of her door in her socks and saw the officer lying beside his patrol car near Schiller and Almond Streets.

A man, she said, was cradling Liczbinski in his arms while trying, with no success, to stop the blood gushing from his abdomen. Blood was also pouring from his elbow, she said.

As other neighbors also gathered around, Braun said the stricken officer looked up and around before uttering the words for his wife.

He then gurgled, she said. Blood leaked from his mouth. His face became ashen.

At 11:26 a.m., police radio received a report of a robbery at the Bank of America branch, which is located in a nook near the produce section of the ShopRite in the 3700 block of Aramingo Avenue.

No one was reported hurt in the incident, and police gave no information on how much money may have been taken.

A ShopRite official, not in the branch at the time, noticed the robbers as they moved away from the counter. He said they were masked and wore draped, neck-to-foot clothing. He could not tell if they were men or women. He saw no weapon.

He described one as a man wearing "Muslim garb" and carrying a shoulder bag.

He said that a second robber, apparently a woman, was wearing full-length "light-brown Muslim garb."

This is not the first time an incident like this has happened in Philadelphia.

A third suspect, 33-year-old Eric Floyd, is still being sought by police. Authorities recovered two vehicles one of which contained a high-powered assault rifle with 25 live rounds. Iran told Britain not to cross any "red lines" when preparing incentives for the Islamic Republic aimed at ending a row with the West over Tehran's nuclear program, the Iranian foreign minister said on Saturday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr said he met his British counterpart, David Miliband, in Kuwait recently. Britain and Iran attended a multilateral meeting there on Iraq last month.

"I told him that 'You have used a word, and I think it is a forbidden word ... Don't pass those red lines. Be careful about that'," Mottaki said without saying what those "red lines" were.

This could be a threat of military action against England. Or it could just be Iran's way of saying "Yes...We do mind if you dance with our dates"

Cal-Poly professor Ahmad Atif Ahmad says it's impossible to compare Islam and the West because Islamic values constantly evolve...They do? Like how? Is he talking about the struggle within Islam as to whether it's more appropriate to strike your wife with a closed fist or an open fist? Or maybe the great debate as to whether strapping bombs to retards and sending them to them to kill other Muslims is indeed, "What Mohammed would do"...There's an apparent split on that issue.

THE TRUTH ABOUT TUSKEGEE

Reverend Wright, Obama's mentor and until last week, friend and spiritual adviser, has been quoted recently as saying the US Government deliberately infected the black community with AIDS. As a vehicle to have you believe that nonsense, he cites the "Tuskegee Experiment" where, as he and others claim, the US government infected unknowing black soldiers with syphilis to study possible cures. Is that true? Not really.

'Based on this Tuskegee experiment ... I believe our government is capable of doing anything.” So said the Rev. Jeremiah Wright when asked if he stood by his claim that “the government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color.”

The infamous Tuskegee experiment is the Medusa’s head of black left-wing paranoia. Whenever someone laments the fact that anywhere from 10 percent to 33 percent of African Americans believe the U.S. government invented AIDS to kill blacks, someone will say, “That’s not so crazy when you consider what happened at Tuskegee.”

Wright says the U.S. government “purposely infected African-American men with syphilis.” This is a lie, and no knowledgeable historian says otherwise. And yet, this untruth pops up routinely.

So what did happen? In 1932, public health researchers set out to study syphilis, particularly among African Americans, who had higher infection rates than whites. They recruited 399 black men who already had syphilis. The doctors infected no one. In fact, the patients were selected in the first place because they were tertiary-stage syphilitics who were no longer contagious.

The researchers studied the progress of the disease, without treating it, for 40 years.

Prior to the availability of penicillin in the 1940s and 1950s, the researchers couldn’t have treated the men even if they wanted to. Even after standardized penicillin treatments were available, it wasn’t clear that the patients could have been helped. Some of the doctors believed that treating the decades-long infections would kill the men.

A sick irony is that Jeremiah Wright’s lies, and liberal apologies for them, make it more difficult for government to do the job these people want it to do, starting with helping people with AIDS. But that’s only one of many reasons they should be ashamed.

SUPERFRO: OSCAR GAMBLE SURE COULD "PICK" IT

Not sure why, but this morning, I woke up thinking of Oscar Gamble. So I figured I'd write this. Lest he be forgotten.

Oscar Gamble was a former outfielder and designated hitter in Major League Baseball. He played for 17 seasons, from 1969 to 1985, on seven different teams: the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees on two separate occasions, as well as the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Indians, San Diego Padres, and Texas Rangers. Nicknamed the Big O by Yankees announcer Phil Rizzuto, Gamble was a relatively small man, listed at 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 165 pounds. He still hit 200 career home runs in just over 4500 major league at bats, an impressive ratio for the era he played in.

Despite his hitting prowess, however, Gamble is known more for what is, without question, the largest afro the game has ever seen.

Simply put, there was no batting helmet that contain it and no ball cap that could tame it. And for an entire generation of boys, Gamble's hair stands as a symbol for all that was right with the world. Of such awe was his fro, that it was not uncommon for Gamble's baseball cards to demand a hefty, if not skewed premium, on the trading market. Tales of a 1976 Topps Gamble card being traded for 2 Pete Roses, a Steve Garvey and a fro to be named later (usually Base McBride) were not at all uncommon.

To be sure, there were other great afros in the game. The aforementioned Bake McBride, Enos Cabell, Tito Fuentes and others, but none captured the imagination of Gamble's. Gamble's fro was like a living, breathing and thinking organism. Like a chia pet with a dream. Like pond algae with a statement to make. To boys of that generation, there were only three certainties in life -- Summer, School, and Oscar Gamble's afro.

The lure and intrigue of Gamble's fro has remained with many of those who grew up during that era of baseball. For many, Gamble's afro is one of their most vivid memories of the game. So much so that an "Oscar Gamble Society" has been formed in Chicago. As best I can tell, the "Society" consists of a number of middle-aged folks who like to get together, put on afro wigs, and drink beer. And I can't think of any greater legacy that can be left by a ball player.

IRAQ PRESENTS IRAN PROOF OF IRANIAN MEDDLING

An Iraqi delegation in Iran has confronted Iranian security officials with evidence that Tehran is providing support for Shi'ite militias battling Iraqi government forces, an Iraqi official said on Friday.

"They presented a list of names, training camps and cells linked to Iran," Haidar al-Ibadi, a member of Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's Dawa party, told Reuters.

"The Iranians did not confess or admit anything. They claim they are not intervening in Iraq and they feel they are being unfairly blamed for everything going on Iraq," he said of the talks, which took place on Thursday.

The U.S. military said this week that "very, very significant" amounts of Iranian weaponry had been found in Basra and Baghdad during the offensive. Some of those arms were made in 2008, a senior U.S. military official said on Friday.

An Al-Jazeera cameraman recently released from the Guantanamo Bay Prison has accused the US authorities of insulting Islamic symbols.

WEST'S STANCE ON TIBET INFURIATES YOUNG CHINESE FED PROPAGANDA BY THEIR GOVERNMENT

The Chinese need to open their eyes. Seriously, they need to use their fingers and prop their eyes open so they can see.

Like many young people in the West, Wang Shaoqing longs to travel through Tibet one day, to experience its stunning scenery and witness the culture. Like them, too, he is deeply concerned by the troubles of the past fortnight and what he sees as an inadequate international response.

'We find it hard to understand why the West has always used the Tibetan issue to oppress China ... Tibet is a historically indispensable part of the Chinese nation,' complained Wang, 23, a Beijing college student, blaming the Dalai Lama and his followers for inciting riots.

His remarks underscore the cultural gulf between Chinese and Western observers of the unrest.

In part, they reflect the Chinese government's powerful propaganda drive. Chinese and Tibetan TV channels have repeatedly screened graphic images from Lhasa: monks throwing stones at young riot police; mobs launching unprovoked and probably lethal attacks on bystanders.

They have not shown largely peaceful protests in other areas or the paramilitary police use of teargas and gunfire in response; quoted exile groups' claims that up to 100 have died in the crackdown; or explained the grievances of Tibetans.

Jewish leaders concocted the mass murder of handicapped Jews in order to keep from having to support them, and this murder is what the Jews term "the Holocaust," according to a documentary special that aired on April 18 on Hamas's Al Aqsa television station.

Palestinian Media Watch located and translated the contents of the footage, which it uploaded to YouTube under the headline "Hamas: Jews planned Holocaust."

According to the documentary's narrator, Israel's first prime minister David Ben Gurion decided that Jewish "disabled and handicapped are a burden to the state," after which "the Satanic Jews" - the film cuts to a picture of a hassidic Jew - "thought up an evil plot to be rid of the burden of disabled and handicapped" - the film then cuts to piles of emaciated corpses - "in twisted criminal ways."

The film claimed Jewish leaders blamed the Nazis for their own massacre of Jews "so the Jews would seem persecuted and try to benefit from international sympathy."

The film offers an "expert" - Amin Dabur, head of the "Center for Strategic Research" - who explains that "the Israeli Holocaust, the whole thing was a joke and part of the perfect show that Ben Gurion put on."

I'll bet anything these people don't believe in Santa Claus.

A Kuwaiti man released from the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay in 2005 has carried out a suicide bombing in Iraq, his cousin told Al Arabiya television on Thursday.

A friend of Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi in Iraq informed his family that Abdullah carried out the attack in Mosul, his cousin Salem told the Dubai-based television channel.

Abdullah had been missing for two weeks and his family learned he left Kuwait illegally for Syria, he said. Abdullah had sent messages to his wife from Iraq.

Many of the men held at Guantanamo were captured in Afghanistan in the U.S.-led war to oust the Taliban after the September 11, 2001, attacks. Many have been held for years and nearly all are being held without charge.

No word yet from the opponents of Gitmo. But I'm sure they'll blame the murderers action on his incarceration.

SPIKE LEE TELLS REVEREND WRIGHT TO "DO THE RIGHT THING"...AND "SHUT UP"

For good measure, Lee hinted at a political conspiracy behind Wright's recent, contentious attempts to justify his remarks. "It looks like he's being paid to keep talking," he said.

"Jeremiah Wight needs to be quiet," Lee said yesterday. "If he loves Obama he needs to shut up right now. It makes me question his motives for talking. I'm starting to wonder whether somebody has been contributing to the building funds of his church. Seriously."

Average temperatures in areas such as California and France may drop over the next 10 years, influenced by colder flows in the North Atlantic, said a report today by the institution based in Kiel, Germany. Temperatures worldwide may stabilize in the period.

``If we don't experience warming over the next 10 years, it doesn't mean that greenhouse-gas warming is not with us,'' Keenlyside said in an interview. ``There can be natural fluctuations that may mask climate change in the short term.''

``Natural variations over the next 10 years might be heading in the cold direction,'' Wood said. ``If you run the model long enough, eventually global warming will win.''

``We thought a lot about the way to present this because we don't want it to be turned around in the wrong way,'' Keenlyside said. ``I hope it doesn't become a message of Exxon Mobil and other skeptics.''

All this means is that the global warming whackos have a huge hole in their theory and need some way to explain what is going to be a coming cooling period. What's the easiest way to do that, and still keep scaring the hell out of people? Tell them that the global warming monster is just going take a long nap. But when he wakes up, he's going to be pissed about the shaving cream on his nose.

Chinese police have rescued 167 children sold into labour in factories after an undercover newspaper investigation alleged that more than 1,000 had been sold "like cabbages", reports said today.

The state media said authorities in Dongguan, in the southern province of Guangdong, had launched a drive to rescue them.

The report claimed that children as young as seven, from the ethnic Yi minority, had been sold at a street market in the south-western province of Sichuan before being driven in trucks over 600 miles to the Pearl river delta.

Yeah. Child Labor. What? You thought the Chinese economy was rising because of hard work?

IRAN COULD GO NUCLEAR WITHIN ONE YEAR

Iran has taken command of its nuclear technology and could have an atomic bomb in a year, (Israeli) Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz was quoted as saying Wednesday, citing Israeli intelligence.

According to Channel 10, Mofaz made the comments during talks with US officials in Washington where he leading an Israeli delegation holding meetings within the framework of the Israel-US Strategic Dialogue.

In the past, the general consensus in the intelligence community has been that Iran had hit some technical difficulties with enrichment and that its attainment of nuclear capability was much further off.

This can't be good for anyone.
