Why Would Google Do This?

This is Google's Veteran's Day logo.  Note the crescent in the artwork. 

And before we jump to conclusions, and figure it wasn't intentional, and just the way Google's "e" looked after the flag was placed over it, take a look at Google's logo for Hungary National Day.

And Korean Independence Day.

And Sweden National Day.
