Info Post
Some time ago, I blogged about a group of liberal do-gooders who came up with the brilliant idea of creating a "green gym" where homeless people on stationary bikes would be used to generate electricity.  About a year later, I searched for evidence that the gym was still in existence and that it was functional and/or profitable.  I could find nothing.  Now, I find this somewhat disturbing video, released this past winter, two years after the gym supposedly opened.

These people (Cass Community Social Services) also created what they referred to as a one cup carwash.  Yes...They'll wash your car using only one cup of water.  I haven't found anything discussing whether or not it actually works worth a damn.

I checked Cass' website this morning.  Here's an update on what else they're up to.

It looks like they're hiring 50 mentally challenged people to work as document destroyers in their "Secure Document Destruction Program".  From their website:
Here developmentally disabled adults sort, shred and bale paper. Most of it contains sensitive information and, so, the highest security measures are utilized to insure and document the chain-of-custody. The program's regular customers include physicians, lawyers and accountants. We have recycled 145 tons of paper to date.
The document destruction program has grown to include recycling x-rays from doctors and veternarians. Here, too, adults with developmental disabilities are the trainees and employees. They remove and destroy patient information from the films and package what remains of the x-rays for recycling. Doctors who give x-rays to CCSS receive documentation of their donation and that CCSS has upheld the HIPPA standards in recycling the x-rays.
I'm not a mean person at heart, but, holy shit!  Can you imagine?

Cass is also contemplating using the homeless to make and market sandals made from old tires.
